Reiki is a Japanese method of spiritual healing used for stress reduction and relaxation. It works by channeling positive energy into your body. Based upon the belief of an unseen life force energy that flows through each of us, if one’s life energy is “low” we are more likely to experience sickness and/or stress. If our life energy is “high” we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki practitioners typical place their hands on or near the energy points of the body (the seven “chakras”) with the intention of removing blocks to its flow throughout the body and encouraging emotional and physical healing. Frequently these sources of energy are blocked by stress, fatigue, and the vicissitudes of life. Reiki is a means of opening up these channels of energy bringing healing and well-being to the recipient.
